What did the US Ambassador share?
May 13 marked the ambassador’s first anniversary in the country. In a three-minute video, Garcetti, shot on the premises of the United States (US) Embassy in New Delhi, shared his exceptional experience in India.
The year 2023 was marked as the most productive year in US history, with many “agreements, paperwork, desi kadak chai, and accomplishments.”
He walked the viewers through his year by sharing his incredible experience of visiting 22 states, where he built new friendships, received diverse gifts and hurled praises for the Indian delicacies.
India-US business
“A banner year for trade”, he said.
The countries had $200 billion in trade, and efforts were made to reduce tariffs to promote economic growth. “That’s a lot of almonds for a lot of mangoes,” Garcetti quipped, showcasing the magnitude of trade exchanges between the two nations.
India-US defence cooperation
Numerous military exercises were conducted to enhance peace and interoperability between the United States and India.

NASA-ISRO partnership
The two space and aeronautics research centres of the countries are developing their first satellite, NISAR, together.
“From the seabed to the stars, the United States-India relationship is reaching new heights, including all the way to space”, he exclaimed.
US help in India
He shared that the US is aiding India by expanding climate resilience through new electric buses to funding the largest solar manufacturing plant.
The improvement in granting the US visa with increased speed owing to which 1.4 million visas were processed last year.
Thus, the video shows the different partnerships between India and the USA and what they are doing for development.
He was impressed by India’s UPI system, its diverse culture, and “chole bhature” specifically.
It, thus, has been a year of great diplomacy and deepening friendships. He signed off by saying, “there’s nothing holding us back when it comes to India and the United States.”
