On Tuesday, the BJP bagged 78 out of the 147 seats in the Odisha Assembly, leaving the BJD with only 51 seats, falling significantly short of the 74 seats majority mark.
Meanwhile, the Congress won 14 seats, one went to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the remaining three seats were taken by Independent candidates.
The saffron party won 20 of the 21 parliamentary constituencies in the state, while the only remaining seat went to the Congress.

Jual Oram
Oram has been an MLA once and has served as an MP five times.
The individual, aged 63, was one of the initial individuals in Odisha who became a member of the BJP.
He grew up in a poor tribal family in Sundargarh and earned a diploma in electrical engineering.
He was employed at BHEL for a period of five years prior to resigning in order to pursue a career in politics.
On 29 October 1999, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the prime minister at that time, founded the ministry and selected
Oram as its inaugural minister in charge of tribal affairs at the Union.
He won the Sundargarh Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 elections.

Sambit Patra
BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra is also being taken into consideration.
He is a recently appointed Member of Parliament representing the Puri constituency.

Dharmendra Pradhan

He lost the election for the Pallahara assembly seat in 2009.
