On Friday, Donald Trump stated his plan to contest the verdict that identified him as the initial US president found guilty of a criminal offense.
Nevertheless, he stated that he would delay taking action on this appeal until after his sentencing on July 11. According to Reuters, he made these remarks at Trump Tower in Manhattan, the location of his first presidential campaign announcement in 2015. Trump repeated his claims that the trial was unfairly designed to hinder his potential return to the White House, and cautioned that it demonstrated that no American was immune from politically motivated legal action.
In an impromptu 33-minute speech, Trump, 77, expressed his concern that if they are able to treat him in this way, then they are capable of treating anyone in a similar manner. Cheered on by his fans, Trump, the 2024 Republican nominee, declined to answer any questions from the press.
He mentioned that they would appeal the scam.
Trump has a 30-day window after his July 11 sentencing to submit an appeal notice.
In the upcoming Nov. 5 election, President Joe Biden, a Democrat, mentioned that Trump had the chance to defend himself within the same justice system that is used for all American citizens.
According to Rebecca Roiphe, a former New York prosecutor, Trump’s public criticism of jurors and witnesses during the trial might lead Justice Juan Merchan to enforce a harsher penalty, resulting in a $10,000 fine.
If Trump were to win, being in prison would not stop him from campaigning or assuming office.
Trump’s sentencing on July 11 aligns closely with the Republican Party’s intention to officially name him as their presidential nominee at the convention in Milwaukee.
He was found guilty of 34 charges for forging documents to hide a payment to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star, in an attempt to influence the 2016 election, where he beat Hillary Clinton.
While holding onto this belief, Trump is also facing three other legal cases, two of which involve his attempts to dispute his loss to Biden in the 2020 election. Nevertheless, the New York decision might be the only one announced before Americans go to vote, as legal issues have postponed the rest of the cases. Trump consistently claims he is innocent, declaring all four cases to be motivated by political agendas.
In the meantime, Reuters, quoting a source knowledgeable about his campaign’s internal operations, stated that the decision was likely to lead him to increase discussions on selecting a female as his vice presidential candidate.
Biden Reacts
President Joe Biden responded to Donald Trump’s conviction for the first time on Friday, specifically condemning the individuals who have labeled the process as “rigged.”
Biden stated from the White House that the American belief that everyone is subject to the law was confirmed. Donald Trump was afforded all chances to protect himself.
President said “The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed. Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself. It was a state case, not a federal case. And it was heard by a jury of 12 citizens. 12 Americans, 12 people like you”.

Biden stressed that the hush money trial was fully managed at the state level, and Trump can appeal like any other defendant following a jury conviction.
The president stated that it is irresponsible and dangerous for someone to claim the system of justice in America is rigged just because they disagree with the verdict. “Our justice system, a foundational element of America, has persisted for close to 250 years.” The justice system deserves respect. We must never permit anyone to dismantle it. “It is just that straightforward.”
