George R. R. Martin, the mastermind behind GOT (Game of Thrones) has disclosed that efforts are in progress for the development of the third and fourth seasons of House of the Dragon. The prequel series is reportedly gearing up for a concise eight-episode second season next summer. It has remained largely unaffected by the numerous strikes that occurred this year.
Martin, currently in the United Kingdom, shared that he has been working on refining the plot details for the upcoming seasons but acknowledged that there is still much work to be done in the process.
The Iconic Women of GOT
The women in GOT might have lived in a harsh medieval patriarchy surrounded by a constant threat of violence but that could not stop them from carving out an impactful life for themselves. They learnt to adapt, challenge and fight back but more importantly, they took charge of their own life and prevailed. Their character developments are remarkable and stirring. The following are some of the iconic women from GOT with incredible character arcs.

- Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys’ start was quite heart wrenching, being abused by her brother and sold into marriage with the head of the barbaric tribe, Khal Drogo. She overcame this and instead made the best of her situation. After losing her husband and her chance at motherhood, the distraught Daenerys soon becomes mother to three dragons and soon raises an army of her own to become the fiery Targaryen queen that even the mightiest men feared.
- Arya Stark
Arya (played by Maisie Williams) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic female characters in the series. Arya is the polar opposite of Sansa, her sister, and both of them represent different kinds of strength. Arya’s determination to avenge her father’s death and his humiliating public beheading is stirring. She channels all her energy and effort in training herself to be strong and proving herself a formidable opponent to her enemies who caused her suffering. She never loses her drive for revenge as she grows from being the little helpless princess to a warrior woman posing a threat to those who hurt her family. Her iconic one liner “Not Today” is rousing and unforgettable.
- Sansa Stark
Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) is one of the most underrated women in the GOT series, however she has also delivered some iconic scenes. She flees but instead inadvertently keeps running into the horrifying men – Joffrey, Ramsey Snow and Littlefinger yet always manages to escape. She finally goes on to become the Queen of the North. Her story is an example of how any woman can rise above her ranks and how there are more ways to do this than physically overpowering your enemies.
- Cersei Lannister
Cersei is one of the terrifyingly iconic characters of the series. She instilled fear in her enemies and blew them up if they caused her trouble. She might not be the most liked character (for her selfish and self-serving nature) but she did what she had to do in order to survive in a male dominated world. She challenged conventions and left a mark with her cunning and wit. She was a force to be reckoned with.
- Yara Greyjoy
Yara is the first lesbian character in GOT universe. She overpowers her brother Theon yet never stops loving him. She undertakes a difficult mission to save her sibling and is a perfect example of strength and love. She is the first woman to naturally take the lead of her men and is appointed as her father’s heir. She is the ideal example of the kind, tough and strong woman that many strive to be. Her sibling relationship was one of the iconic portions of the series.
These iconic women from Game of Thrones are exemplary examples of how women who live in unpredictable times can yet do things that leave a lasting mark behind.
