Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt’s second appearance at the Met Gala has softened the eyes and melted the hearts of many.
Abiding by the 2024 official dress code of ‘The Garden of Time’ and the Gala’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” Bhatt stunned in a mint green Sabyasachi sari, styled by her long-time stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania.
About Alia’s outfit
The Sabyasachi sari was adorned with delicate embroidery and precious gemstones.
The sari was accessorised with a 23-foot-long train intricately detailed with hand-embroidered florals using silk floss, glass beading, and semi-precious gemstones. She complemented her look by wearing headgear, earrings, and a set of gemstone-adorned rings.
Bhatt, talking about her attire, said, “I am feeling great. I am very excited. Months of preparation have come down to this moment. I am wearing Sabyasachi Mukherjee. This is my second time at the Met and the first time wearing a saree. When I thought of the theme ‘The Garden Of Time, ’ I thought there was nothing more timeless than a saree. This is all hand embroidery. It has taken 1905 man hours and 163 craftsmen, workers, everybody to make this garment.”
She explained why she chose the Sabyasachi saree for the Met, “What drew me to this look was its sheer audacity -how it merges traditional craftsmanship with avant-garde aesthetics.”
Alia Bhatt shared pictures on her social media accounts with a caption expressing gratitude to the entire team and craftsmen for putting together the Indian interpretation of “The Garden of Time”. She signed off the post as “Team work makes the dream work”.
It was a call to the Garden of Time – an ode to art and eternity.
Timelessness is endless, and we acknowledge that things crafted with time and care, can last forever. In our journey for an Indian interpretation of this universal theme, the outfit took on a life of its own.… pic.twitter.com/IjIzDV7vXH
