Renowned Ghazal vocalist Pankaj Udhas, aged 72, has succumbed to a long-standing illness on February 26, as confirmed by his relatives. In a somber statement, the Udhas family announced the passing of the Ghazal maestro, expressing profound grief.
The demise occurred at 11 AM at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where Udhas had been receiving treatment after being diagnosed with cancer several months ago. His final rites are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 27.

Singer Sonu Nigam shared the news of Pankaj Udhas’ demise on Instagram, expressing deep sorrow. He wrote, “One of the most significant parts of my childhood is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart mourns knowing that you are no longer with us. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti.”
